AAUW Nursery School

Our Staff

Our nurturing, educated staff boasts a ratio of 1 teacher to every 7 children in the classroom. Continuing education programs keep our staff abreast of the latest research and practices in early childhood education.

	Miss Ann has been in the early childhood field for 16 years and a teacher at AAUW for 7years. All 3 of her children attended AAUW. In her spare time, Miss Ann enjoys scrapbooking and outdoor activities with her family.

Miss Rita is in her 8th year as a teacher's aide at AAUW. She is in the M W F three year old Discovery class. Miss Rita was married for 52 years and raised 4 daughters. She also has 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and a Shih Tzu dog named Penny Li. Miss Rita enjoys reading, going to the movies and collecting cookbooks.

	Miss Ruth Ann has 17 years of experience in our classrooms. She currently works part-time in the office. Miss Ruth Ann has a special love for AAUW and enjoys talking to people who are interested in sending their children to our school. Miss Ruth Ann has six grown children; the three youngest are AAUW alums. She has eight grandchildren.

Miss Jan is one of our 4 year old Adventure teachers. She has been at AAUW for over 30 years! Miss Jan holds a Master's of Science degree in Early Childhood education. She is also married with two grown sons. She enjoys camping, biking, cross country skiing, reading, yoga, cooking, traveling and learning to play Mahjongg.

	Miss Sheila has been one of the secretaries at AAUW for the past 14 years. Before that she worked in the classroom for 2-1/2 years when her son started school at AAUW. Miss Sheila is married and has two grown children, as well as a Boston Terrier and a calico cat.

Miss Tia has been teaching at AAUW for over 6 years and currently works with the 3 year old Discovery classes. She has her AA degree in Early Childhood Education. Miss Tia is married and has three children.

	Miss Denise is in her sixth year. She is a teacher in the MWF Adventure and T-TH Discover classes. She is a student at the College of Lake County working toward an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Development. When Miss Denise was 3 and 4 years old, she attended AAUW. She is married and when she has children, she plans on enrolling them at AAUW.

Miss Meg currently teaches in the Tuesday/Thursday Adventure class. She is married and has three children, all of whom attended AAUW. She loved being an active parent within the school and held various Board positions thorughout the years. Miss Meg enjoys writing, yoga, and training her adopted dog, Ember.

	Miss Marianne is currently an Aide in the Tuesday/Thursday Discover class. She is a mother of two boys. One is currently enrolled in AAUW and the other who is iin 2nd grade, also attended AAUW. She enjoys walking, swimming, reading poetry and inspirational quotes. She also enjoys exploring each new day with her boys. She believes in giving!

Miss Enid joined AAUW in August 2007 as a bilingual teacher's aide in the Adventure Classes, Monday - Friday. She is married and nurtures her two nieces who are 5 and 10 years old. She enjoys doing activities such as walking, biking and baking.
