AAUW Nursery School

Our Staff

Our nurturing, educated staff boasts a ratio of 1 teacher to every 7 children in the classroom. Continuing education programs keep our staff abreast of the latest research and practices in early childhood education.

Miss Ann has been in the early childhood field since 1990 and has been with AAUW from 1997-1999 and again since fall of 2002. She was a teacher in several classrooms until summer of 2006. Since then she has been the director at AAUW. Miss Ann is married and has three children who all attended AAUW. She enjoys reading, scrapbooking and outdoor activities with her family.

	Miss Ruth Ann has 17 years of experience in our classrooms. She is currently retired but still manages to help us out on a part time basis. Miss Ruth Ann has a special love for AAUW and enjoys talking to people who are interested in sending their children to our school. Miss Ruth Ann has six grown children; the three youngest are AAUW alums. She has eight grandchildren.

Miss Jan is currently one of our retired staff that substitute teaches for our classes. She was a teacher at AAUW for over 30 years! Miss Jan holds a Master's of Science degree in Early Childhood education. She is also married with two grown sons. She enjoys camping, biking, cross country skiing, reading, yoga, cooking, traveling and learning to play Mahjongg.

	Miss Sheila has been one of the secretaries at AAUW since 1993. Before that she worked in the classroom for 2 ½ years when her son started school at AAUW. Miss Sheila is married, has two grown children, one grandson and a Boston terrier.

Miss Tia started teaching at AAUW in the fall of 2000. She currently teaches in the Adventure, Voyagers and Pioneers West classes. She has her AA degree in Early Childhood Education and is continuing her education. Miss Tia is married, has a daughter and two sons. She likes to read a good book in her spare time.

	Miss Denise has been with AAUW since fall of 2002 and currently teaches in the Discovery and Pioneers East classes. Miss Denise is working to complete her AA in Early Childhood Education at the College of Lake County. When Miss Denise was 3 and 4 years old, she attended AAUW. She is married and has one son.

Miss Meg has been teaching at AAUW since the fall of 2007. She currently teaches in the Adventure and Voyagers classes. Miss Meg is married and has three children, all of whom attended AAUW. She loved being an active parent within the school and held various Board positions throughout those years. Miss Meg enjoys writing, yoga and training her adopted dog, Ember.

	Miss Enid joined AAUW in the fall of 2007 as a bilingual teacher’s aide. She currently teaches in the Adventure, Voyagers and Pioneers West classes. She is married and nurtures her two nieces. Miss Enid enjoys doing activities such as walking, biking and baking.

Miss Emily is a National Board Certified Teacher. For ten years she taught children with a wide range of special needs at Blair Early Childhood Center in the Chicago Public School System. Miss Emily has been with AAUW since spring of 2008 and currently teaches the Pioneers West class, one of two Preschool For All classes offered at AAUW. Miss Emily is married and has two daughters. Her family loves to sail and ski.

.	Miss Rhonda joined AAUW in the fall of 2010 as a Teacher’s Aide and Office Staff Member. She teaches in the Discovery Class. She has over 20 years experience in Early Childhood Education and Youth Development. She is married and has one daughter and one rescued puppy. Her family loves exercise, the environment, and helping others. Her daughter attended AAUW and is thrilled to be an AAUW Alum!

Miss Cassie joined AAUW in the fall of 2009 and currently teaches the Discovery and Pioneers East classes. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She enjoys photography and spending time with her family. She is married and has one son.	,
