A parent participation fee of $50.00 is paid at the time of registration. This is a deposit on your parent participation and will be refunded at the end of the school year if you have completed your required number of parent participation credits (see below). If you are unable to complete all of your credits, you will be charged for any credits not fulfilled, taking into consideration the $50.00 already paid. Each credit is valued at $25.00. Should a family withdraw before the end of the school year, their credits will be prorated. The parent participation fee is separate from tuition.
Here are some areas where you can earn participation credits: Maintenance: We will have Parent Work Days, usually on a Saturday morning for about 3 hours. This is when we will need your help for tasks such as painting, lawn work or other maintenance chores. Classroom Cleanup: We will have one or two monthly cleanups in the classrooms, usually on a week night between 7:00-9:00 p.m. We use this time to clean the toys and equipment that the children use. You are welcome to come to any cleanup. Laundry: Parents also take care of the classroom laundry. Each family may receive up to two credits for doing the laundry each school year. A sign up sheet may be found on the hallway bulletin board. Baking: Baking for functions such as bake sales, board meetings, parent meetings, and open houses is another way to receive parent participation credit. One half credit is given each time you submit a baked good from a pan no smaller than 8" X 8" or no less than two dozen cookies. Each family may receive up to two full credits for baking each school year. Classroom Help: We will need parents to help in the classroom for special projects and drivers for field trips. Parents may also help with the preparations of materials to be done at home. Your child's teacher will post a notice when she needs this type of help. Child Care: We will need parents to help provide child care during monthly staff meetings and board meetings. Carnival: We will need parents to help plan the May Carnival. The committee meets for planning from February through May, although some preparations may be done before that time, too. Board of Directors: Parent participation credits are automatically fulfilled by acceptance of a board position. Board meetings are held every third Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at the school. All parents are invited to attend. The board of directors takes responsibility for certain areas of the school. Board members are required to attend board meetings. Individual positions differ and some require a team of parents while others are satisfied by one member. |
